About Us

Our Parent Company LIFE

Labor & Industry For Education, Inc. (LIFE) has been involved in the field of providing educational opportunities to low-income families for over 25 years, running Head Start and EarlyLearn programs in the New York City area.  Our mission has always been to help the children and families traditionally most underserved.

Our experience both in the realm of education as well as through our other social-service programs, has given us a deep understanding of how to best assist those truly in need.  We believe that in order to help each child reach their full potential, we must expose them to high quality educational experiences as early as possible.

LIFE is truly excited to introduce the LIFE – Bushwick Montessori at the newly constructed Julie Dent Learning Center in Bushwick New York.  LIFE’s program will integrate a tuition-based model along with a tuition assistance program, funded by a private foundation. We will also be accepting families identified as low income by NYC (child care vouchers) into the program.  This model will allow access for ALL children to benefit from the scientifically proven methods implemented in the Montessori classroom.

The children in our program come from a wide variety of ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds.  The mix of languages, cultures and experiences of our families is celebrated and is representative of the vibrant and diverse Bushwick community we serve.   At our center we address the needs of the whole family and provide a variety of services that help parents and children walk the path towards improved health and happiness.  This means meeting families where they are and guiding them to the information and resources they can use to make positive and meaningful changes in their life.

LIFE’s Montessori program in Bushwick is housed at the Julie Dent Learning Center in Knickerbocker Commons, a passive house, energy efficient “green” building which affords the children the highest quality environment within which to learn.  This building style reflects our mission to pass our environmental stewardship onto the next generation.

It is part of LIFE’s mission to give the children of low-income families educational opportunities which, in most circumstances, they would never experience. We are truly honored and excited to offer this educational model to meet the diverse needs of the Bushwick community.
